ASUS EAH6850 DirectCU

With news of AMD’s 6800 series of graphic cards still sizzling on the net after their official announcement late last week the time has come for us to put the vendor branded cards of this series to test. Today in our lab we’re looking at the ASUS EAH6850 DirectCU 1GB.

This card is based on AMD’s latest second-generation DirectX 11 architecture (Northern Islands) and is rumoured to have great potential in vastly overshadowing the performance per watt ratings of the previous series. EVGA GTS450 FTW Edition

Since NVIDIA’s announcement of the GTS450 we’ve seen almost every vendor simultaneously release their own version of this affordable card. On trial at our labs recently was the EVGA GTS450 FTW (For The Win) Edition, which is their top-of-the-line in the series, factory overclocked from NVIDIA’s original 783MHz to a sweet 920MHz. That puts it just a VERY tiny step behind the ASUS GTS450 TOP in terms of factory overclock. Let’s see how this card stacks up against the competition. (more…)
